Okay, the thing is I am actually doing a lot better eating-wise than I was last year at this time. I guess since I have been unemployed, there have been just as many occasions to stress eat as there were when I was on a deadline at work and trying to make the UPS drop-off and make my desktop cooperate with me. I'd have your basic stress eating foods: Your peanut butter cups, your Tastykakes, your Toffifays that you got on your quick stress-walk to Wawa.
So you'll forgive that after an unpleasant conversation with my insurance company (car insurance, it is but a dream to have medical insurance, but dreams really do come true!) that I needed to go in the kitchen and find some stress junk food.
Problem is, I don't have any now. I have been eating better and not buying anything. I had chocolate chips, dark chocolate chips, but that's obviously medicinal. I have no candy, no Tastykakes, no Entenman's, no Toffifay. I have peanut butter but I don't like eating it at home because I'm afraid that after I take a big mouthful of peanut butter, my niece Luna will show up and have a peanut allergy flare-up from standing next to me.
What?
Back to my stress-eating adventures; I considered eating cereal but that was not a fun stress eat.
Then it hit me: Hot-buttered Cheerios.
I first encountered Hot Buttered Cheerios via The Empty Bowl podcast. I never saw the recipe and honestly don't know if there was one, but imagine if there is it involves heat, butter, and Cheerios. Probably also a sweetener, such as a bit of sugar or, I don't know, Bourbon.
I had Multi-Grain Cheerios, and used a half a cup, and a teeny bit of butter. Melted the butter. Put in the Cheerios. It was okay. The experience was probably more fun than the actual eating of the Cheerios. Probably should have just had the dark chocolate chips. But I only use those in case of emergency.
Next time I'll try Hot Buttered Cinnamon Life. I'll have to use salted butter, because, obviously.
