New Year, New Start, New Pic of Me as a Disney Princess

Well, we did it, guys.  We got through 2020!

I am just going to be open here.  I want to write a post every day, but then I say to myself, Self, there is literally no way you have the energy to write 1,000 words on the Law of Attraction right now. So then I end up waiting until "it feels better" before I write. And I tell myself, not to bother writing anything if I can't write the thing I really want to write! And then, days, weeks, and yikes, even months pass.

Something I am conscious of in 2021 is to become aware when I am choosing not to write, if I am choosing to not write anything at all if I can't write it and complete it in the perfect way.  Writing a bunch of little hey-how-ya-doin' posts does not prevent me from writing a longer post that people may find helpful, which is my goal!

Admittedly, I don't always care that much about the idea of a New Year.  I have a habit of making my birthday my personal New Year, but now that I am in my early-late-forties, I don't do that as often.  If there was ever a year that allowed us a place to leave the old behind, including thoughts, habits, and energy, it was the 2020.

Yes, my little cynical friends, you are right in that the change of a date does not automatically make all the awful stuff away.  But it provides those of us that may need a touchstone or guidepost to re-frame our thoughts and start over again in all the ways that we need to.

The one thing I would encourage you all to remember is if you are going to have resolutions or use the year as a clean slate:  don't beat yourself up if you don't do things perfectly right away.  If you want the chocolate, have the chocolate.  If you want to binge-watch Marvel movies, binge-watch Marvel movies.

2020 was our PTSD year.  The year of trauma and the year of having to cope through it, and cope through all the things it triggered in us.

Be gentle with yourself.  You're starting over in any area of your life that you need to!

Happy New Year!
