A Super-Quick Scarlet Witch-Related Rant (Contains "Wandavision" Spoilers)

Note of Warning:  This blog post contains spoilers regarding the new Disney Plus show Wandavision, and comments about the existing MCU. Look, I already made it clear that I am a nerd, and I am just following nerd rules.  If you would like to talk about Wandavision or the MCU and don't want to read the spoilers, feel free to write me.

I realize I am limiting my potential audience here, which almost defeats the purpose of a daily blog post, but this rant needs to be ranted.

I love the Marvel Cinematic Universe and I have been waiting approximately 27 years for Disney Plus to release their new shows. I got my wish with Wandavision featuring one of my favorite MCU characters, Wanda "Scarlet Witch" Maximoff.  The first two episodes are on the Plus right now.

To be fair, because it's more like a miniseries than an episodic show, I probably shouldn't rate it until after they have aired all 10 episodes.  But I can complain in the meantime.

It was fun, but I have some problems.

1. Why doesn't Wanda have her accent, but Vision, still has his?

2. The hell is S.W.O.R.D.?

3.  Does it concern Agent Coulson?

4.  Why didn't I watch Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. when I had the chance?

5. Why did Miss Marvel say her name was Geraldine?

6. It's not the bad guy talking to Wanda since he is asking who is doing this to her.  So, who is it?

7. And the bees?  What was that about?

So to summarize my feelings about the show so far: It was fine, it was fun, but there are some items that distract from enjoying it.  A half hour format may not work as well as the two hour movie.  But I will take my MCU content where I can get it.

I rate it 6.5 out of 10 Dr. Strange Time Portals.

Comments

  1. Wanda stupidly lost her accent long ago so that doesn't bother me anymore. Vision has his still because he is programmed with Jarvis's voice. I guess he could be reprogrammed if he felt like it or got bored or something.

My husband is a comics nerd and he says SWORD is the offensive version of SHIELD. He watched Agents of Shield so maybe they mentioned it there too.

I thought the show was cute and bizarre with a menacing undercurrent. It will keep me occupied while i await my Loki show!
